Art and Culture-Oriented Tourism
The Fundacion Atlantica is a non-profit private institution established in accordance with the Dominican law. It creates an institutional space appropriate to develop the arts and Dominican culture in an area in which the main industry is tourism. It is the Foundation's priority to incorporate artistic and cultural resources in the Puerto Plata province, facilitating international resources that aim to fund projects of this nature abroad.
Objectives
- To contribute to the development and diffusion of culture, arts, and cultural presence to the Puerto Plata province by creating and supporting cultural projects in favor of the area's development, particularly "Casa de Cultura", "Fe en el Porvenir" and the area designated as "La Chocolatera - Atlantic Cultural Center".
- To promote and participate in the realization of strategies and actions to convert Puerto Plata into a Caribbean cultural capitol within the national and international context. A place where Dominican art and Caribbean art is promoted and flourishes.
- To promote vocational and financial cooperation at the local, national and international level through Dominican art and culture.
- To give support and consultation for cultural initiatives for private organizations.
- To promote cultural tourism in the province of Puerto Plata and the northern region of the island.
To accomplish these objectives, the Foundation has the legal jurisdiction to receive national and international support from the private and public sector and to operate directly with private and public institutions.
